How to Reboot Fujitsu Siemens Laptops to Factory Settings
It is occasionally necessary to reset a computer to its factory defaults so as to wipe away viruses, spyware or system errors. It is also necessary when erasing an older operating system and installing a newer one. With a Recovery Disc or an Installation Disc in hand, the process for formatting a laptop is identical to that of reformatting a desktop PC. Be sure that you truly need to perform this process, as it cannot be reversed.
Power on your Laptop. Right as it starts up, note the BIOS access command at the bottom of the screen. It will ask you to press "F2," "F8" or "F12" depending on your motherboard.
Once you have gained access to the BIOS, select the "Boot" menu. Select your DVD-ROM drive and move it to the top of the boot priority list. Exit the BIOS Setup Utility and be sure to save all changes. Insert your OS Installation Disc, then power off your laptop.
Power on your laptop. The laptop should boot from the OS Installation Disc. Regardless of which Operating system you are installing, be sure to perform a complete install (do not select anything that saves data from the previous installation.)
