How to Recover Toshiba Laptops

By Chad Buleen

Toshiba laptops manufactured after 2007 do not include system recovery discs with the computer at purchase. In place of a recovery DVD or CD, Toshiba added a recovery option that is built in to the computer. Setting up a Toshiba laptop recovery takes only a few moments for you to complete, although the computer may take several minutes to finish the recovery after you have started the process.

Step 1

Plug the power cord into your computer.

Step 2

Hold the power button for about 10 seconds or until the computer shuts down.

Step 3

Tap the "Power" button and press and hold the "0" (zero) key until the computer starts to beep.

Step 4

Release the "0" key and click "Yes" when prompted to start "System Recovery."

Step 5

Click "Recovery of Factory Default Software" and click "Next."

Step 6

Choose "Recover to out-of-box state" and click "Next." Select "Next" again. The recovery process will now begin.
