How to Recycle Your Mobile for Cash
If you are upgrading your mobile phone to a new model, you should not throw away your old cell phone. Instead, you can recycle it for cash. The amount of money that you can get for your old cell phone varies by manufacturer, model and age of the phone. Newer phones that are in high demand are worth more than older, less desirable models. In order to recycle your mobile phone for cash, it does need to be in working condition.
Prepare your cell phone for recycling by removing the SIM card, if your phone has one, and erasing your data from the phone. If you aren't sure how to erase your data, search for instructions for your phone on ReCellular.com (see Resources).
Check the going rate for your cell phone on one of the websites that offers cash for cell phones. Such sites include Galleze.com, CellForCash.com, FlipSwap.com and Envirofone.com(see Resources). Just select your phone manufacturer and model. When you find your phone and amount, submit your information via the website.
Ship your cell phone to the recycling company. Depending on which company you use, you will either need to mail it in yourself for later reimbursement or get a prepaid shipping container or label.
Wait for your payment to arrive. Once the recycling company receives your phone, it will be inspected to make sure that it is in good working condition. After that happens, you will be sent your check, which usually takes around two weeks to arrive once the phone has been inspected.
