How to Register an iPhone With iTunes
After purchasing an iPhone from a local cellular provider or from the Apple Store, you need to register the device with iTunes, which sends the registration information to Apple and enables the iPhone for use. Whereas the iPhone's activation process is completed at a local cellular provider or Apple Store, the registration process is an at-home process that creates an Apple ID used to link your personal information to your mobile device. Once the phone is registered, media stored in the iTunes program on your computer is transferable to the iPhone through automatic or manual synchronization.
