How to Remove Annoying Firefox Pages & Pop-ups

Nothing is more annoying than the pop-ups and pages that appear when you are surfing the Internet. This can make a pleasant surfing experience stressful and non-productive. Firefox has tools built into its interface to assist with this issue, but you can download plugins to resolve it as well. As you resolve this issue, select the solution that works best for your problem.

Step 1

Turn on Firefox's pop-up blocker. This can be done by accessing the customizable Firefox options. Using these customizations, you can turn off the pop-ups or customize the pages that are exceptions to this rule. This enhanced pop-up feature is currently available in Firefox version 3.0. Firefox has utilized pop-up blockers since version 1.0.To turn on the Firefox blocker, open Firefox. Select "Tools" and "Options." Click the "Contents" tab, and check "Block Pop-up Windows."

Step 2

Use Firefox plugins as alternative to get rid of pop-ups and annoying pages. Plugins are a great way to enhance the Firefox experience. One of the most popular plugins is AdBlock. This product can seamless remove pop-ups as you surf the Internet. Because it's a plugin, it is integrated into the Firefox session. It has a toggle button that you can use to turn ads on or off. Use this plugin as long as the problem occurs. Disable or uninstall the plugin if it doesn't work for your problem.Install this plugin by downloading it from the Firefox Add-ons page (see Resources). Click "Add to Firefox," and the plugin will load into Firefox. You will be prompted to restart Firefox. Once you restart Firefox, the plugin will be active.

Step 3

Use the Yes Popups plugin as another alternative. This plugin has a toggle button to turn it on and off. It also includes a toolbar that is displayed in Firefox. This plugin will remove annoying Firefox pages and pop-ups.Install this plugin by downloading it from the Firefox Add-ons page (see Resources). Click "Add to Firefox," and the plugin will load into Firefox. You will be prompted to restart Firefox. Once you restart Firefox, the plugin will be active.
