How to Reset a Password on a Sony Vaio

The Sony Vaio computer uses a Microsoft operating system to give users the ability to create and edit digital files through the graphical user interface. Microsoft operating systems allow users to create accounts on the computer so they can log into a setup that houses customized settings and preferences. Resetting the password on a Sony Vaio computer is not very hard. You can do it yourself without contacting Sony or Microsoft.

Windows XP

Step 1

Click on the "Start" button at the bottom of the computer screen and select the "Control Panel" option from it on the right hand side of the menu.

Step 2

Scroll down to the "Users" tab at the bottom of the windows and click on it.

Step 3

Choose the user account that you want to reset the password on.

Step 4

Click the "Reset Password" tab at the bottom and type the old password into the prompt that pops up.

Step 5

Click on the "New Password" box and enter the password you want to use. Click on the "Confirm Password" box and type the password again. Click "OK" to save your changes.

Windows Vista and Windows 7

Step 1

Press the "Control," "Alt" and "Delete" buttons all at once to bring up a new menu.

Step 2

Click on the "Change Password" tab.

Step 3

Type the old system password into the prompt.

Step 4

Type your new password into the "New Password" box and then type it into the "Confirm Password" box.

Step 5

Click the "OK" button to save your changes.
