How to Retrieve Lost Numbers on a Mobile Phone

Many people store important phone numbers in their mobile phones. However, just like any other piece of technology, mobile phones can crash, break, become lost, get damaged or be susceptible to viruses and other problems. If you lose the numbers stored in your cell phone, your first thought might be that they are gone for good. However, that is not the case. There are a few ways in which you can retrieve the numbers.

Step

Take the SIM card or data card out of your cell phone. Put the card into another phone or into a card reader attached to a computer and see what you get on the phone screen or computer screen. Sometimes, if the phone itself is damaged, it might not read the card right, while another device can.

Step

Take your cell phone, along with the SIM card or data card, to your cell phone provider. They can hook up the phone to a computer and transfer all of the information, including any hidden phone numbers, to a file they can give you.

Step

Ask your cell phone dealer to transfer the data on the SIM card or data card to another phone. Sometimes, address books that appear to be missing on your phone will show up when transferred to another phone.

Step

Purchase or download a cell phone data software program that will search through your phone or your SIM card to see if it can retrieve information. Run the software on your computer with the SIM card in a card reader, or with the phone plugged into your computer with a data cable. Follow the on-screen instructions on the software to find the missing information.
