How to Track Numbers on UPS Ground

By Tiffany Raiford

The United Parcel Service ships all types of packages, including ground packages. A ground package takes longer to deliver because it is not flown to its destination, it is driven. Among the services offered by UPS is the ability to track packages. You can track ground packages using the tracking number provided to you upon shipment.

Step 1

Obtain the tracking number of your UPS ground shipment. If you shipped the package yourself, the tracking number is on your receipt. If you are the recipient of the package, you have to contact the shipper for the tracking number. For online orders, such as a gift from a department store, you will receive an email containing your tracking number from the department store.

Step 2

Go to the UPS website and click on the tracking link on the main page. Enter your tracking number in the box and click "Track." Wait at least 24 hours after your package ships to check the status because it might not be available sooner.

Step 3

Read the results to see the status of your ground package. You can see where it is, where it has been and when it is arriving.
