By Nigel Ward

Computers often use Windows Media Player and iTunes applications to store music files. Transfer of music from Windows Media Player to iTunes is relatively straightforward. Choose the files in Windows Media Player, and iTunes will start and complete the process.

Step 1

Go to where iTunes is stored on your computer. Left-click on the icon to open the program. Click on "File" at the top left-hand corner once iTunes has opened. Scroll down and click on "Add File to Library." Wait for a small window to open on the screen.

Step 2

Click on "My Music" once the new window has opened. Look for the music files in windows media format. You will find the windows media icon above every song title. Click "Convert" when iTunes asks you if you want to convert the music files.

Step 3

Scroll through the songs and double-click on the tracks you want to transfer over to your iTunes library. Wait for iTunes to automatically transfer each song before clicking on the next song.

Step 4

Click on the "X" in the top right-hand corner of the small window to close it down. Go back into iTunes and play your music through iTunes.
