How to Turn Off Adobe Updater

By Necie Reed

All Adobe software applications such as Adobe Reader, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Flash Player come with an automatic update feature. These updates are available on a regular basis and provide increased functionality, fixe bugs and other added attributes that increase the efficiency of the respective software application. However, some users may want to turn off automatic updates for Adobe products (although Adobe Systems Inc. doesn't recommend turning them off).

Step 1

Open any Adobe software, such as Adobe Reader or Adobe Photoshop, that is installed on your computer.

Step 2

Click the "Help" menu option at the top of the screen and then click on "Check for Updates."

Step 3

Turn on your internet connection if it is not already on so that the software can check for updates. The "Update" screen will appear after this check is completed.

Step 4

Click the "Preference" button on the "Update" screen.

Step 5

Remove the tick from the check box named "Automatically Check for Adobe Updates." Click "OK."
