The content protection feature on a BlackBerry either allows or prevents your number from showing up on other phones when you call them. Once it has been enabled, it displays "Unavailable" on the phone of the person you are calling. There are many reasons you need to turn on caller ID block on your BlackBerry. Regardless of the reason, turning on caller ID block is simple and similar with most BlackBerry phones.

Step 1

Turn on your phone, and open the options console. The location of the options tool varies with different BlackBerry models but is generally found on the main menu.

Step 2

Navigate to "Security Options," and select "General Options." You should see Content Protection.

Step 3

Select "Content Protection," and select "Turn off." Once content protection is off, your caller ID block is activated. For some BlackBerry phones such as the Storm, you have to select "Menu" and select "Options." Select "General Options," and select the "Always" option under "Restrict my identity." Press "Menu," and press "Save."

Step 4

Dial *67 and the recipient's phone number, and press "Send." This is a simple alternative for blocking your caller ID from specific contacts.
