How to Use a Panasonic Lumix

By William Pullman

The Panasonic Lumix is a compact digital cameras manufactured for consumers in need of a point and click camera. Though Lumix cameras have several different shooting modes and other features, the ease of use makes it an ideal camera for the average photographer. After the initial setup, the Lumix camera is ready for use. In addition to taking pictures, photographers can review all of the images saved to the installed memory card and delete images as needed.

Step 1

Turn the Lumix over so the bottom is facing up.

Step 2

Push the battery cover release latch to the right and pull the cover out to expose the battery and memory card compartments.

Step 3

Slide the battery into the lower part of the compartment with the label facing up and the arrow facing the inside of the camera.

Step 4

Insert the memory card by sliding it into the compartment above the battery with the contacts facing up. The memory card will click in place when it is fully inserted.

Step 5

Close the battery cover and push the switch to the left to lock the cover, securing the battery and the memory card.

Taking Pictures

Step 1

Turn the camera on and ensure that the "Mode" dial on the top of the camera is set to the camera icon, to take still pictures.

Step 2

Point the camera at the subject of the photograph and frame the subject in the LCD screen.

Step 3

Press the shutter button halfway to set the focus. The Lumix camera auto focuses on the subject when the shutter button is pressed halfway and determines if the flash is needed to better light the subject.

Step 4

Take the picture by fully pressing the shutter button once the subject is in focus in the LCD screen. The flash will activate if the Lumix determines it is needed to take the picture and the shutter will fire.

Step 4

Press the up arrow button to choose "Yes" and press the "Menu/Set" button to confirm the deletion.
