How to Use a Phone As a Bluetooth Adapter

By Chanel Adams

You can use your phone as a Bluetooth adapter. With a Bluetooth adapter, you can surf the Web, check email or transfer files between your computer and phone. It gives your computer both Bluetooth and Internet access. Even though it is not as fast as broadband or DSL Internet, it will allow you to do some light Web surfing. All you need to do is to hack into your phone to connect and enable the Bluetooth wireless technology.

Things You'll Need

  • USB cable

Step 1

Click the "Menu" button. Navigate to "Applications." Select "File Explorer."

Step 2

Navigate down to "Internet Sharing" or "PC Connection," depending on your cell phone. Choose either "USB" or "Bluetooth" from the list of options. Leave the network as "Standard" and click "Connect."

Step 3

Insert the software (that came with your phone) in your computer's optical drive. Follow the installation wizard. Save the software to your computer's hard drive.

Step 4

Attach the USB cable to your phone. Plug the other end to an available USB port on your computer. Wait for your computer to detect your phone as a modem.

Step 5

Click the "Menu" button on your phone. Navigate to "Settings and Tools," and then "Bluetooth." Click the "Enable" button.

Step 6

Click "Start" and "Control Panel" on your computer. Click "Bluetooth." Press "Set Up New Devices." Click "Continue" twice.
