How to Use PIP on a TV

By Bennett Gavrish

If your television comes with picture-in-picture technology, you can watch two channels simultaneously on your screen. With picture-in-picture turned on, you will see the feed from one channel in the main part of the TV screen and the feed from another channel in a small box in the corner of the screen. Picture-in-picture options are configured with your remote control.

Things You'll Need

  • Television with picture-in-picture
  • Remote control

Step 1

Turn on your television and go to the channel that you want to see in the main portion of the screen.

Step 2

Press the picture-in-picture button on your remote control, usually labeled "PIP," to enable picture-in-picture. A window with a second channel will open in the corner of your screen.

Step 3

Use the remote control to change the channel in the small window.

Step 4

Press the "Swap" button on your remote control to change between the audio feeds of the two channels you currently have open.

Step 5

Press the "PIP" button again to shut off picture-in-picture and go back to viewing only one channel at a time.
