Recommended, but seriously flawed. There are probably better alternatives.

PROS

  • HP includes a hefty 500GB or 1TB of internal storage in the Pavilion Mini.
  • It's small, quiet, and attractive.
  • You can upgrade the hard drive or add more RAM.

CONS

  • This is some slow hardware.
  • The more expensive 1TB hard drive feels slower than the 500GB drive.
  • HP didn't include 5 GHz Wi-Fi, which helps avoid wireless interference.
HP's Pavilion Mini is a desktop PC so small it can fit in the palm of your hand. Various ports allow you to plug this PC into one or more displays. The inexpensive, low-power-usage hardware doesn't make this PC a speed demon. It's more at home when performing basic desktop tasks or hooked up to a TV in a living room. The Pavilion Mini features more internal storage than you typically find in comparable small PCs in this price range.

It would make a great living room PC, perhaps running a Plex client, but could easily serve as a mini workhorse for the family.
