PROS

  • Easily set up the Replicator Mini with plug and play and start printing with the one-touch button. You don't have to level the build platform anymore.
  • The built-in camera takes pictures and monitors the progress of a build.
  • The MakerBot desktop and mobile apps let you monitor a 3D build and receive notifications and alerts.

CONS

  • The build platform enables only up to 3.9 by 3.9 by 4.9-inch models, and resolution is only 2 microns.
  • The Replicator Mini prints with proprietary PLA filament that deforms at a lower temperature than generic filament.
  • The Smart Extruder can be costly to replace.
The MakerBot Replicator Mini has a maximum build volume of 3.9 by 3.9 by 4.9 inches at 2-micron resolution. You can download models via Wi-Fi or USB. Out of the box, you don’t need to level the build platform and a one touch button starts the printer. The built-in video camera lets you monitor and document your build, and you can stream video to your phone or iPad with the MakerBot app. The Smart Extruder senses when the proprietary PLA filament runs out, and sends you an alert. Once you replace the filament, you can continue printing rather than starting over.
