PROS

  • The Polar Loop 2 is waterproof, lightweight, and comfortable to wear.
  • It customizes your activity goal and provides useful alerts when you are inactive.
  • It displays smart notifications for Android and iOS devices.

CONS

  • The display can be difficult to read, especially in sunlight.
  • To fit the Polar Loop 2, the user must measure and cut it themselves, which can be time consuming and difficult.
  • The band features a capacitive touch button, which isn't always responsive.
Polar’s second foray into fitness trackers is the Polar Loop 2, a simple but sophisticated wristband. It can track sleep, steps, distance, and calories burned. Rather than track your progress toward an arbitrary number of steps, the Loop 2 sets a personalized activity goal based on your personal information and your desired activity level. Throughout the day, it reminds you when it’s time to get up and move. It also connects to Android and iOS smartphones to deliver notifications of calls with on-band caller ID, messages, and calendar items.

It’s not exactly classy — it’s a plastic band, after all — but it’s downright gorgeous compared to the Polar A300.

The LED display on the Polar Loop 2 is, well, ok. It gets the job done so long as you’re not in direct sunlight. Even light shade has a tendency to wash out the brightness, forcing you to hover a cupped hand over your wrist.

The most disappointing thing I have to point out is that visibility under strong sunlight is pathetic, at least for the white version I had.

I spent probably around 45 mins unclipping the clasp on both sides, measuring my wrist, cutting back each side of the band, re-clipping the clasp and trying it on. If it was still too big, you would have to do the process all over again.
