A solid product. Despite some flaws, it's still a good value.

PROS

  • The Polar Loop is waterproof, which means you can use it while swimming.
  • Polar's own heart rate monitors can be paired with the Loop to monitor heart rate zones.
  • Battery life is good at a rating of six days, and some reviewers saw even longer life from the Loop.

CONS

  • The single button on the Polar Loop is difficult to press and frustrating to use, failing to respond way too often.
  • The band has to be cut to size, and if you cut it too short, there's no going back.
  • If you want to track stairs climbed, the Polar's lack of an altimeter leaves you out in the cold.
The Polar Loop is a waterproof activity band that tracks calories, counts steps, and monitors sleep. It’s compatible with Polar’s H6 and H7 Bluetooth heart rate sensors to provide additional health data. Its mobile apps are available on Android and iOS, but the Loop can be used with Polar’s Flow Web service as well. Integration with MyFitnessPal is also available, but on iOS only. The Loop comes with a USB cable and a large band that can be cut to size. Battery life is rated for about six days.

To fit the wristband to your size, measure your wrist and cut the band. We're not a big fan of this because there's such a large margin for error, but the good news is Polar will replace the band if you cut too much.

Unlike the majority of activity trackers, the Loop is fully waterproof. Not only does that mean that you don’t have to take it off before jumping in the shower, but that you can also wear it while swimming and track those lengths too.

The Polar Loop doesn’t include an altimeter like the Fitbit One and Force so it won’t measure the number of flights of stairs you manage to climb every day. This isn't a great loss, but I did find myself taking the stairs more when using the Fitbit Force and Fitbit One.
