PROS

  • Don't let the drop in megapixels fool you; the S7's camera is the best smartphone camera available now.
  • A waterproof housing isn't something you'll rely on daily, but when you accidentally spill water on your phone, you'll be glad it survives.
  • Battery life has improved compared to the S6, thanks to a thicker design and bigger battery.

CONS

  • Software bloat from carriers and Samsung is still something the company needs to reduce.
  • You'll need a case or cleaning cloth to keep this device free of fingerprints--it's a magnet.
  • Despite the return of some of the features Galaxy users knew and loved, a removable battery is still missing from the S7.
Samsung's Galaxy S7 is a mix of features users loved about older Galaxy devices combined with new features sure to please Android fans. A waterproof housing, fingerprint sensor, and a 5.1-inch display are just the tip of the iceberg. Samsung brought back microSD support for expandable storage and equipped the phone with a 12-megapixel camera capable of 4K video recording. The S7 is powered by Android 6.0 Marshmallow, Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 processor, and 4GB of memory. Additionally, the S7 features an always-on display that doesn't drain the 3,000 milliampere-hour battery.

Comparing the S7 to other Android phones, it’s undoubtedly more compact, featuring a 5.1-inch display, but it is also perhaps a little thicker than most at 7.9 mm (though you would never describe the device itself as thick).

One of the biggest issues I found with last year’s Galaxy S6 family was the glass back, as it was prone to attracting fingerprints, and although the company has introduced a new coating to reduce this, the Galaxy S7 is still rather prone to this.
