How Do I Block a Website on a Cell Phone?

By Michael Jones

With most cell phones offering Internet service, websites are using new ways to spam as many mobile users as possible. Many cell phone providers are aware of the problem and make it easy for you to block sites. Depending on what cell phone service you have, the actual process will differ. But the basic steps are similar across all major smart phone providers.

Step 1

Go to the website for you cell phone provider and log into your account. If you don't have an account for your cell phone plan, now is a good time to create one.

Step 2

Go to the preferences section of your account.

Step 3

Go to the "Message Blocking" section under your preferences . Choose what numbers or web addresses you want to block. AT&T and Verizon have automatic blocking functions that will simply allow you to block all websites or messages from the Internet. But you'll also be able to choose specific websites to block. Sprint and T-Mobile don't have any automatic blocking functions, so you'll have to enter the numbers and web addresses you want to block manually.

Step 4

Save your preferences and log out of your account.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can also look into creating an alias for your phone, but this will just make it more difficult for spammers to find you. It won't block them if they do find you.
