How to Add Hebrew to an iPhone

The Hebrew language uses characters not available by default on the iPhone virtual keyboard. Using the International language options, you can add a keyboard to begin typing in Hebrew. With the Hebrew keyboard, you to type Hebrew characters directly into any document that supports text input. Installing the keyboard also provides the proper support to write text from right to left. This feature makes it simpler to type messages without needing to type your words in reverse order or align your margins to the right side of the message.

Step 1

Tap the "Settings" app on your iPhone.

Step 2

Select "General" and choose "International" from the list of options.

Step 3

Tap "Keyboards" and choose "Add New Keyboard."

Step 4

Select "Hebrew" from the list of options.

Step 5

Launch an app that supports text input, such as Mail, Messages or Notes. Tap in the text entry field to display the virtual keyboard. Tap the "Globe" icon to toggle among installed keyboard layouts until you find the Hebrew keyboard. Tap the Hebrew characters on the keyboard to create messages, notes and mail.

Tips & Warnings

  • Tap the "Settings" app. Select "General," followed by "International" and "Language." Tap the selection that activates the Hebrew language, which appears in the menu in Hebrew, throughout all processes of the iPhone including all menus and alerts.
