How to Change My Account Name on Flickr

By Caroline Jackson

When you use the Flickr service to store and share your photos, you create a unique screen name. It stretches across the top of your profile page, and gives other Flickr users a way to identify you. If you decide that you no longer want your original account name, create a new one. Flickr does not limit the number of name changes per account -- change your username as many times as you like.

Step 1

Sign in to Flickr.

Step 2

Click the down arrow beside "You" in the Flickr menu at the top of the screen.

Step 3

Click "Your Account" from the drop-down menu. Find the Your Profile section on the Personal Information tab.

Step 4

Click "View Your Profile Page."

Step 5

Click the "Edit Your Screen Name" link in the gray box on the right side of the page.

Step 6

Type a new name into the box beneath "Change Your Screen Name To."

Step 7

Click "Save."

Tips & Warnings

  • Tell your Flickr friends that you're changing your account name. By giving them your new name ahead of time, you'll prevent confusion.
  • Your Flickr account name cannot have more than 20 characters.
