How to Change the Name of the iPhone Bluetooth

By Spanner Spencer

THe iPhone is a range of multimedia and Internet-equipped smartphones designed and sold by Apple. The device can be synchronized with the iTunes multimedia management software, which provides a backup of the iPhone's settings and digital content on your computer. When the iPhone is first synced with iTunes you must give it a name to identify that particular device. This device name is stored on the iPhone, as well as iTunes, and is used when transmitting the device ID during Bluetooth wireless connections.

Things You'll Need

  • iTunes
  • iPhone USB cable

Step 1

Connect the iPhone to the computer using its USB cable.

Step 2

Launch iTunes on the computer. ITunes will automatically detect that an iPhone is connected.

Step 3

Double-click the entry for the iPhone in the "DEVICES" section of the left-hand column in iTunes.

Step 4

Type a new name for the iPhone and press "Enter" when finished.

Step 5

Click the "Sync" button in the lower-right corner of the iTunes window. The revised device name will be sent to the iPhone, and will be used during Bluetooth transmissions.
