How to Clear Previous Searches on MSN
As you search the Web using the MSN.com or Bing.com search engines, your recent searches are automatically displayed on the left side of every search result page, even if you are not logged in to your Windows Live account. On a computer used by others, this can create a situation in which your privacy is compromised, because the next person who uses MSN or Bing will see what you searched for online. If you search the Web using MSN or Bing, clear your previous searches periodically to prevent others from accidentally intruding on your privacy.
Clearing Previous Searches on MSN.com or Bing.com
Navigate to MSN.com or Bing.com.
Enter any search term in the box at the top of the page, then press "Enter" to display the results for that search. The search engine displays all of your recent searches under "Search History" on the left side of the page.
Click the "Clear All" link under "Search History."
Click "Yes, clear all search history." The website displays the confirmation message "You've cleared all your search history."
Tips & Warnings
- Bing.com is the search engine that provides results for searches made on MSN.com. If you clear your search history on one website, it will also be cleared on the other.
- If you have the MSN Toolbar or the Bing Toolbar installed, you might also need to clear the search history from the toolbar to keep your searches completely private. To clear the MSN Toolbar search history, click the "MSN" button on the toolbar, and select "Clear Search History" from the drop-down menu. If you use the Bing toolbar, click the wrench-shaped icon to open the "Toolbar Options" menu. Click "Search" on the left side of the window, then click the "Clear History" button.
