How to Convert an Old Satellite Receiver to FTA
FTA stands for "Free to Air." FTA receivers allow you to receive free channels on your television. In other words, you do not need to pay any monthly subscriptions for FTA programming. If you have an old satellite TV receiver, you may want to convert it into an FTA receiver. Note that you will need an FTA receiver to perform this task. You can purchase one online or from an electronics store.
Things You'll Need
- FTA receiver
- Coaxial cables
- RCA cables
Insert one end of an RCA cable to the "Video Out" port on the FTA receiver that you have purchased. Connect the other end to the "Video In" port on your old satellite receiver.
Insert one end of the coaxial cable into the "Out" port on your old satellite receiver. Connect the other end into the "In" port on your television.
Turn on your television.
Turn on your old satellite receiver. Turn on the FTA receiver. The FTA receiver wil start to acquire free channels on your television screen.
