How to Delete a Craigslist Account and Re-Register
Craigslist is an online classifieds website that is free to use and does not require you to have a user account to post ads. You can create a user account if you wish, and doing so will allow other Craigslist users to contact you more easily. Another advantage of creating an account is that you'll be better able to manage your ads. You may later decide to delete your account and create another one because someone is harassing you or for some other reason. Deleting your Craigslist account and re-registering for a new one is a straightforward procedure.
Open your Web browser and log in to the email account that you used when you initially set up your Craigslist account.
Compose an email message addressed to "firstname.lastname@example.org" and explain why you want to close your Craigslist account. To delete your account, you must have a valid reason (such as being harassed by another user). When you finish writing the message, click the "Send" button to send the email.
Wait for a response from Craigslist. If your account deletion request is approved, you'll receive a confirmation to this effect and the account will be deleted. Once your Craigslist account has been deleted, proceed to the next step.
Browse to the Craigslist homepage. Click the "My Account" link at the top of the page.
Click "Sign Up for an Account" on the page that displays. Type your email address (preferably a different one than you used to create your previous account) in the space provided. Enter the Captcha phrase in the provided space and then click the "Create Account" button.
Log in to your email account and view the account activation email sent to you by Craigslist. Click the account activation link to activate your new Craigslist account.
