How to Delete Posts on a Facebook News Feed

By Caroline Jackson

The Facebook News Feed keeps you connected to your social network. As your friends add their own status updates, photos, videos and links, their posts appear in your News Feed. The feed updates automatically, and you have the ability to interact with others as they post. If someone updates with material that you object to, or if you just want to get rid of a particular message, remove the post.

Step 1

Sign in to Facebook and go to your Home page. This contains your Facebook News Feed.

Step 2

Find the post to delete on your News Feed.

Step 3

Place your cursor over the post to reveal an "X" in the top-right corner. This is the "Remove" button.

Step 4

Click the "Remove" button. Choose "Hide This Post" from the menu. Facebook will remove the post.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you change your mind immediately after deleting a post, click "Undo." After navigating away from your News Feed, you will no longer have the "Undo" option -- the post will remain hidden. To delete all posts by a particular person, choose "Hide All By" when you click the "Remove" button.
