How to Delete the Wallpaper on the Lock Screen of an iPhone

By Crystal Bonser

When an iPhone isn't in use for a specified period of time, the "Lock Screen" appears. This screen is intended to prevent accidental tapping which could initiate unwanted actions, such as deleting an application or making a phone call. The lock screen consists of a slider for unlocking the phone and an image --- also known as a wallpaper. The iPhone comes with a standard wallpaper consisting of an image of the Earth. Although you can't delete the wallpaper altogether, you can switch it with another wallpaper or a photo saved on your phone.

Tap on the "Settings" icon.

Step 2

Tap on "Wallpaper" from the "Settings" menu.

Step 3

Tap on "Wallpaper," "Camera Roll" or one of your custom albums.

Step 4

Tap on the image you want to use as your new wallpaper.

Step 5

Pinch or drag the image with your fingers to reposition it.

Step 6

Tap the "Next" button, located on the tool bar.

Step 7

Tap on the "Set as Lock Screen" button from the pop-up menu. Alternatively, you can tap on "Set as Both" to use the wallpaper for your lock screen and your home screen.
