How to Disconnect PayPal From iTunes

By Adrian Grahams

When you first open an account with Apple iTunes, you'll need to provide a payment method before you can buy and download music, TV shows and movies. Apple iTunes automatically charges your credit card, debit card or PayPal electronic money transfer service account each time you download an item from the iTunes Store. You can disconnect PayPal from iTunes by editing your payment information in the account settings section of iTunes.

Step 1

Launch Apple iTunes.

Step 2

Click "Store" from the main program menu.

Step 3

Select "Sign In," and type your Apple user identification and password into the relevant log-in input fields. Click "Sign In."

Step 4

Select "Store," and then click "View My Account." If prompted, enter your password again.

Step 5

Click the "View Account" button, and then click "Edit Payment Information."

Step 6

Read through the list of payment options. Choose which option you want to use instead of your PayPal account.

Step 7

Click the button beside your alternative chosen payment option. This deselects PayPal as your chosen payment method. If you want to pay by debit card or credit card, you'll need to enter the card details, including the card name, card number, expiration date and three-digit security code. Click the "None" button if you don't want to include a payment method on your iTunes account.

Step 8

Click the "Done" button to save your payment preferences.

Tips & Warnings

  • Selecting "None" as your payment option means that you will not be able to download content from the Apple iTunes store.
