How to Fix the iPhone White Screen Error

By Cricket Webber

Now and again an iPhone may inexplicably display something called the "white screen." This means the iPhone may continue activities in the background, but the screen itself will only display a solid white screen. Normal commands may not work, and the white screen remains in place. While powering the iPhone off and back on may resolve the issue, sometimes further action is required. If you experience this issue often, your iPhone may have mechanical issues that a technician can diagnose.

Step 1

Turn the iPhone off using the "Sleep/Wake" button. Once it is completely powered off, turn the iPhone back on.

Step 2

Press and hold the "Home" and "Sleep/Wake" buttons for at least 10 seconds. The iPhone should reset and display either the battery symbol or the Apple logo. If the battery symbol appears, charge the iPhone until it is completely charged.

Step 3

Connect your iPhone to your computer using the data cable if the white screen is still displayed.

Step 4

Launch iTunes and select your device from the "Devices" list.

Step 5

Click "Summary" and then click "Restore." Click "Back Up" if prompted.

Step 6

Click "Restore" to restore your iPhone.
