How to Flash Samsung Phones

By Chanel Adams

Flashing involves removing the software from your old wireless provider and installing the software from your new wireless provider. It restores your Samsung phone to its factory settings, from when you first purchased your phone. Your wireless provider will give you the software you need to flash your Samsung phone. You will also need to use a USB cable, which should have come with your phone.

Things You'll Need

  • Flashing software
  • USB cable

Step 1

Back up the data on your phone. During the flashing process, you may lose information such as your contacts, photos and music. Use a SD memory card or backup software to store the information safely.

Step 2

Call your wireless provider. Ask the representative if you can flash your phone to the network. Pay any fees associated with obtaining the software.

Step 3

Plug the USB cable to your Samsung phone. Attach the other end to your computer's USB port. Run the flashing software.

Step 4

Follow the on-screen instructions. These will vary by your phone and by software type. Disconnect your phone once flashing is complete.

Tips & Warnings

  • Disconnecting your phone during the process will damage it.
