How to Get Rid of Dust on a Screen Protector

By Charlotte Johnson

With technology ever advancing in capabilities and price, it makes sense to use screen protectors to keep dust, dirt and scratches off of the screens of electronic devices such cell phones, laptops and tablets. One problem with many screen protectors, however, is that they tend to collect dust over time. This dust can settle on the outer portion of the protector or even between the protector and the device. It's important to clean off this dust periodically to enjoy optimal viewing of your device's screen and keypad.

Things You'll Need

  • Microfiber cloth
  • Two-sided tape

Step 1

Wipe down the outer portion of the screen protector with a microfiber cloth.

Step 2

Peel back the corner of the protector closest to a particle of dust that appears under the protector. Once you do this gently, use your other hand to dab the dust with a piece of two-sided tape. You can use the tape to grab dust on the inner surface of the protector or on the electronic device itself.

Step 3

Smooth the protector back into place once you've removed the dust.

Step 4

Remove the screen protector completely if you can't get rid of the dust otherwise. Wash it with warm, soapy water. Suspend it with a clothespin or other clip so that it can dry without touching anything. Dry it in an area that is not prone to dust. Wipe down your electronic device thoroughly before reapplying the protector.
