How to Grab a Screenshot From an iPhone

By M.A. Helt

You can create a screenshot of your iPhone and capture any image on the screen with the click of two buttons. You can use screenshots to save images from games, take photos of incoming email messages or save a picture of a contact from your address book to forward it to a friend. The Apple iOS allows you to capture anything on display on the screens of your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad. Screenshots are saved to your device's photo gallery and can be used in a number of ways.

Step 1

Confirm that what is currently on your iPhone screen is what you want to capture.

Step 2

Hold down the "Home" and "Sleep/Wake" buttons at the same time. The "Home" button is the round button on the front of the iPhone. The "Sleep/Wake" button is the silver button on the top edge of the phone.

Step 3

Listen for the shutter noise and watch for the screen to turn white for a second. This confirms the screenshot worked.

Step 4

Click on the "Photos" icon to access your phone's photo gallery. The screenshot will be the latest image in the gallery.

Step 5

Click the icon in the lower right hand corner of the photo gallery to see what you can do with the photo. You can now email the screenshot, send it via text message, assign it to a contact, use it as your wallpaper image, send it to your MobileMe account or print the image.
