How to Move iPhone Apps From a Screen

By Adrian Grahams

It doesn't take long before apps you've downloaded for your iPhone start to take over your device. Over time, you can begin to amass a large collection of apps, some you use on a regular basis, and others you barely use at all. You can tidy up your iPhone by moving apps you use on a regular basis closer to your primary home screen, and deleting or moving apps your rarely use further away from your primary home screen. Tidying up and moving apps on your iPhone can be done with your finger.

Step 1

Turn on your iPhone.

Step 2

Scroll through the display screens of the iPhone by swiping your finger horizontally across the screen. Decide which apps you want to move or delete.

Step 3

Press and hold your finger against any app on the screen with the screen you want to move or delete until all the apps on the screen start to wiggle and a white "X" with a circle around it appears in the upper-left corner of the screen.

Step 4

Tap and hold the app you want to move to another screen until the app increases slightly in size. Drag the app to the furthest edge of the screen in the direction you want to move the app. Continue dragging the app from screen to screen until you arrive at the screen where you want to place the app. Remove your finger from the screen when you arrive at the screen where you want to place the app. Alternatively, if you want to delete an app, tap the "X" in the upper-left corner of the app, then click "Delete" to confirm that you want to delete the app.

Step 5

Press the "Home" button just beneath the iPhone screen to to stop the apps from wiggling and finalize your changes.

Tips & Warnings

  • Another way to de-clutter your iPhone is to organize apps into folders. Create folders by dragging and dropping one app onto another app. You can then add additional apps to this folder or create a new folder.
