How to Plug Headphones Into a TV
If you would like watch TV without disturbing anyone, but don't want to read the captions, you can still listen to the TV with headphones. Not all TVs have a built-in headphone jack, but many do. You can still use headphones with a TV that doesn't have a headphone jack, but you'll need to use an RCA adapter that is equipped with two jacks and one stereo jack. The stereo jack must be either 1/4-inch or 1/8-inch, depending on the size of your headphone jack, which you can find by looking in your headphone's manual.
Things You'll Need
- Headphone jack adapter with two RCA cables and stereo jack
Look in your TV's manual to see if your TV has a headphone jack. Most modern TVs have a headphone jack either on the side, front or in the back of the TV. If your TV has a headphone jack, simply plug the headphones into the jack.
Plug the RCA audio jacks from the adapter into the corresponding AV color output jacks on your TV. If your TV doesn't have a built-in headphone jack, you'll need to use the adapter.
Plug your headphones into the stereo jack on the adapter.
