How to reboot an Apple iPhone

By Techwalla Contributor

The Apple iPhone is a mobile phone, music player, movie player, and mobile internet device that runs a trimmed down version of the same operating system the Apple iMac and MacBook laptops run. Due to the complexity of this device, some times issues pop up causing the iPhone to either lock up, or function incorrectly. Shutting down or rebooting your iPhone can resolve these issues, but instructions for doing this are not easily found. Below are simple instructions to learn how to shut down or reboot your iPhone

Things You'll Need

  • iPhone
  • Your fingers

Step 1

To shut down your iPhone, hold down the power button (the button on the top right side of the phone) for 10 seconds.

Step 2

A red slider bar will show up after approximately 10 seconds of holding the power button down. Slide the bar over to the power off position. To power the phone back on, press and hold the power button for one to two seconds.

Step 3

To Reboot the entire iPhone in the case of a hang or lock-up, hold both the power button and the home button down for approximately 10 seconds. You will see the iPhone screen go blank, and then start booting back up.
