How to Remove Something From Your Facebook Wall

By Caroline Jackson

The Facebook Wall provides a digital space where you can post content and communicate with your friends, family members and acquaintances. In addition to your own updates, your Wall may contain messages from other Facebook users. If you play games on Facebook and give them permission, the games also have the ability to post updates on your Wall. If you get tired of game posts or are receiving unwanted messages, Facebook makes it possible to remove the posts.

Step 1

Visit the Facebook website and sign into your account.

Step 2

Click the "Profile" link in the top-right corner of the screen. When your profile loads, click "Wall" if Facebook doesn't automatically forward you there. The link is directly beneath your profile photo.

Step 3

Locate the post you'd like to remove.

Step 4

Place your mouse cursor over the post on your Facebook Wall.

Step 5

Click the "X" that appears in the upper-right corner of the Wall post. If you don't see it, make sure your cursor is directly over the post.

Step 6

Click "Remove Post" from the drop-down menu. Click "Remove Post" in the "Delete Post" box that pops up to confirm you wish to remove the post.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can also remove an item by reporting it as spam or as abuse. If the post you're removing has a tagged photo of you in it, you can also choose "Remove Post and Untag."
