How to Reset a Comcast DVR Cable Box

Comcast provides commercial and residential customers with cable television, phone and high-speed Internet services. Subscribers of Comcast cable services have the option to purchase a digital video recording (DVR) cable box for an additional fee each month. The DVR cable box allows users to record and play back their favorite shows at their convenience. If your DVR cable box malfunctions, powercycle the box to reset the settings and get your box back up and working.

Step 1

Power off your Comcast DVR cable box.

Step 2

Unplug the power cable of the DVR box from the wall outlet.

Step 3

Wait one to three minutes.

Step 4

Plug the power cable of the DVR box back into the wall outlet.

Step 5

Power on your Comcast DVR cable box.
