How to Retrieve Erased Calls From a Cell Phone

By Lita McLeary

Do you think your husband or wife is cheating on you because they empty their call list before you get a hold of their phone? Or did you accidentally delete your call list and urgently need it? Unlike computers, most mobile phones do not have recycle bins, making deleted files difficult to retrieve. The good news is that there is software to help users retrieve and save files that were deleted from a cell phone's SIM card.

Things You'll Need

  • Cell phone
  • USB SIM card reader
  • Computer with Internet connection
  • Data recovery software

Step 1

Purchase a USB SIM card reader. Check the device and make sure that it has no defects or damages. The USB SIM card reader looks similar to an ordinary USB flash drive, and plugs directly into your computer’s USB port.

Step 2

Download and install Data Doctor Recovery SIM Card software, which is free to try. This program will recover deleted data from your cell phone's call log, including missed calls, received calls and dialed numbers.

Step 3

Turn off your cell phone and remove the SIM card.

Step 4

Insert your phone’s SIM card into the USB SIM card reader and connect it to your computer’s USB port. Make sure that your computer recognizes the device.

Step 5

Click on the "Data Doctor Recovery" application, select “Read SIM Card” and wait until the card detects the program.

Step 6

Click “Call Logs.” This is the part where you can find all information pertaining to the SIM card’s calls, including specific information such as time, date and the name and number of the caller. Clicking on the “Deleted” menu allows you to Save Recovered Data to a file.
