How to Search YouTube. Everyone keeps talking about YouTube, but maybe you are one of those people who have no idea what the big deal is. Perhaps you are a little interested but aren't sure how the whole YouTube mania works. Follow these steps to figure out this new tool that is all the rage.

Video of the Day

Step

Visit the YouTube Web site. Familiarize yourself with what the site has to offer by watching a couple of their "Featured Videos." These can be found on the Home page, about a fourth of the way down under the heading "Featured Videos." On the far left side you can see a still-motion clip of the video and to the right of it is the title and a little snippet of information about the video. Additionally, each video has a star rating that appears below the video description.

Step

Click on the video screen. A larger version will load with an arrow pointing to the right appearing in the middle. This is the play button. If the video doesn't play right away, click the arrow for it to start.

Step

Now search for whatever you are interested in. If you are looking for something you saw on TV, narrow the search words to just three or four. Type them into the "Search" box at the top center of the Home page. Click "Search."

Step

Scroll through the results to find a video that piques your interest or most closely matches what you are looking for.

Step

Use the tabs above the Search box to browse by "Video," "Category," "Channels" or "Community."

Step

Search through Featured Videos by clicking on the categories in the pink shaded box under the headline "Featured Videos." You can search by "Most Viewed," "Most discussed" and "Top Favorites."
