How to Unlock Windows CE GPS
Windows CE is an operating system developed by Microsoft. It is designed for mobile devices such as PocketPCs, smartphones, hand-held personal digital assistants and palm-size PCs. Certain models come with a built-in GPS unit. If you find the GPS unit locked, you may unlock it from the Command Prompt, or CMD, tool. The CMD tool in Windows CE works very similar to that of the one used in the Windows PC version.
Turn on your Windows CE-enabled device.
Tap the "Taskbar" at the bottom and open the on-screen keyboard.
Type "run23" without the quotes and hit "Enter" on the on-screen keyboard. This will launch the Command Prompt tool.
Type the following command at the prompt without the quotes "geo.release(timedelay)" and tap "Enter." This will unlock the GPS system on your Windows CE-enabled device. Replace "timedelay" with the number of seconds (typically 5 to 10 seconds) that you wish to give other applications on your device to release the GPS system.
