To prepare for rain, all you need to do is buy a sturdy umbrella and you're ready to go. That's the easy part. Remembering to actually bring your umbrella with you is the hard part.

Introducing the Davek Alert Umbrella — a high-end umbrella (meaning it won't break after one use) that comes with a built-in Bluetooth proximity chip hidden in the base. So, if you leave the house without it, it'll let you know.
If the distance between your phone and the umbrella exceeds 30 feet, the Davek Alert Umbrella app on your smartphone will receive a "proximity signal" from the umbrella, and it will send an alert to your phone.
The app also has a weather feature that lets you know if you'll need an umbrella the day before so you can plan ahead.
The umbrella is powered by a replaceable CR2032 coin battery and will last up to a year, depending on how often you use it. It comes in two colors: black and blue.
Of course, you won't need an umbrella on days when it isn't raining, so you can easily turn off or pause the service by tapping on the notification. That option will also come in handy if you get tired of receiving an alert every time you walk away from the umbrella. You'll just need to remember to turn it back on.
You can buy it here for $135, which is obviously pretty hefty for an umbrella. But when you think about how many umbrellas you go through in a year, whether they break or you lose them, it probably evens out.
