How to Change a Gateway Battery
Every laptop battery dies eventually, and each laptop brand, including Gateway, has a different way to replace the battery. Gateway has a few quirks to changing the battery, but once you know them, it's relatively simple to change the battery without a hitch.

Changing the Battery on a Gateway Laptop
If your Gateway laptop is not plugged in, turn your laptop off. If your Gateway is plugged in, you can change the battery without turning the computer off.
Close the Gateway laptop and turn the computer over so you are looking at the bottom.
Locate the battery lock and switch it to the unlock position as designated by the open lock.
Slide the battery release latch in the direction indicated by the arrow and remove the battery from the battery bay.
Insert the new battery into the bay. Once it snaps into place, slide the battery lock switch back to the locked position.
Tips & Warnings
- Everything should come out and go in smoothly. If it doesn't, don't force it and check to make sure it's lined up correctly.
- If your laptop is attached to an optical port replicator, detach it before turning the computer over.
