How to Change Syndication on YouTube

By Mike Venture

YouTube has become one of the largest entertainment venues in the world, with a reported four billion hours of video watched every month and 72 hours of video uploaded by users every minute. YouTube shares advertising revenue with its users via a monetization program. When you monetize a video, you must choose how to syndicate it -- that is, whether to make it available on platforms, such as certain mobile devices, that don't support advertising.

Step 1

Visit and log in to your YouTube account.

Step 2

Click "Video Manager" in the left pane.

Step 3

Click "Uploads" under Video Manager if it's not already highlighted.

Step 4

Click "Edit" next to the video whose syndication setting you want to change.

Step 5

Click the "Monetization" tab.

Step 6

Change the syndication setting to Everywhere or Monetized Platforms as desired.

Step 7

Click "Save Changes."

Tips & Warnings

  • If you're unable to change the syndication settings, it's possible that a third party filed a copyright claim on the video you uploaded, which disables your ability to change certain settings, including syndication. See YouTube's Copyright Strike Basics page for more information.
