There are literally dozens of different video formats available, many of which come with their own specific media players. Although the video formats usually specialize in one aspect over other files, you may find it hard to use some of the video files in other programs. In this case, you need to change the file format to a more familiar, and widely used, MPEG video.
Video of the Day
Launch the video editing program installed on the computer. If you are running Windows, this is Windows Movie Maker while on Mac it is iMovie.
Click "File," "Import" then choose the video file you want to convert. The video file will load onto the screen.
Click and drag the imported video file down to the editor's timeline.
Select "Edit" then "Export." An export window will appear on the screen. Title the video file and select a location to save the file to. Click the format pull-down arrow and choose "MPEG" from the list of available video formats. Click "Export" and the video file will convert to an MPEG video file.
