How to Change the Toolbar

Internet Explorer allows you to navigate the web very easily. It includes a toolbar located on the top that allows you to run different functions within the web browser. The toolbar includes a menu, icons and shortcuts to many applications that are integrated within Internet Explorer. Adjusting the size or changing the icons on your web browser is a very simple process that allows you to give it a customized look to enhance your web-browsing experience.

Step 1

Launch Internet Explorer and right-click the toolbar located on the top. Scroll down and remove the check from "Lock Toolbar." Disabling the "Lock Toolbar" enables you to make changes to the toolbar.

Step 2

Place the mouse cursor on the dotted or straight lines on the toolbar and drag them vertically or horizontally to adjust the size of the toolbar.

Step 3

Right-click the toolbar again and remove the check from "Menu" if you want to remove the main menu from the toolbar.

Step 4

Right-click the toolbar and click "Customize command bar." Click "Add or Remove commands." This will bring you to the customize toolbar console where you can select or remove icons to be displayed on the toolbar.

Step 5

Select the icons you want displayed on the "Available toolbar buttons" window in the customize toolbar console and click "Add." If you want to remove certain icons, click them on the "Current toolbar buttons" window and click "Remove."

Step 6

Click "Close" to save the settings. If you are done making changes to the toolbar, right-click it and click "Lock toolbar."
