How to Close a PayPal Account
PayPal is an online payment processor. If you have a PayPal account, you can send money instantly to anyone that has an email address, as well as receive payments. You can close your PayPal account if you do not require it anymore. However, you cannot close accounts that are under review for fraud or suspicious transactions.
Go to the official PayPal website and log in with your PayPal email address and password.
Click the “Profile” heading in the top bar.
Click "My Settings" in the left sidebar.
Click "Close Account" next to Account Settings.
Fill out the Security Measures Form to confirm that you own the account. Click "Submit."
Follow the prompts to complete the account closure.
Tips & Warnings
- Withdraw your PayPal balance before you close your account.
- If you have a bank account or credit card linked, as a security measure PayPal will ask for information such as the credit card number or bank account number when you close your PayPal account.
- Your account history with PayPal will be lost once you close your account.
