How to Connect Wireless to HP Officejet J4680

The HP Officejet J4680 printer has the ability to connect wirelessly with computers that have a wireless card or adapter, either through a wireless router or directly to the computer in what is called an ad-hoc connection. You must know the name of your wireless network or SSID before you can use it to connect the printer to the computer. For networks that have password protection, you will need the password as well to complete the installation process.

Step 1

Load the Officejet J4680's installation disc into the computer's optical drive. Click on "Install Network/Wireless Device" and follow the on-screen instructions to install the printer's software.

Step 2

Connect the USB cable to the printer and computer when the installation software indicates. Follow the additional instructions on the screen to complete the wireless setup.

Step 3

Remove the USB cable later when the installation process is complete and eject the installation disc as well. Open a document on your computer and click "File" at the top of the window, then click "Print." Select the Officejet J4680 from the pull-down menu, then click "Print" again to test the connection with the printer.
