How to Convert a Cell Phone Video to a PC

By Ian Moore

It is not uncommon for most cell phones to come with the ability to not only take pictures but also to record video. Because of a cell phone's compact size, taking videos with a cell phone has never been easier. However, after the user transfers the videos onto a computer, the media player sometimes is unable to read and process the file. To correct this problem, you need to convert the 3GP file format of your mobile phone video to a PC-compatible format such as AVI or MP4.

Things You'll Need

  • Free 3GP video converter

Step 1

Go to and click on "Download Now." You will now download the free 3GP video converter.

Step 2

Click "Run" and install the program. Restart your computer upon completion of the installation.

Step 3

Double click on the program icon that is saved on your desktop to load the program. Click the "Browse" icon under "Input Files" and search for your cell phone video.

Step 4

Under "Formats," select the type of output format you want to convert your cell phone file to. Choose between 3GP, AVI, MP4 or MP3.

Step 5
