How to Convert a PDF to EPS

Converting a PDF file into an Encapsulated Postscript (EPS) file is useful when designing a publication that will be printed on a Postscript-compatible device. The EPS file is of very high quality and is ideal for enlargements or insertions.

Things You'll Need

  • Adobe Acrobat 9 Professional
  • Original PDF file

Converting a PDF to EPS

Step 1

Open a PDF file in Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.

Step 2

Click File > Export > Postscript > Encapsulated Postscript.

Step 3

Select a location in which to save the file. Click the "Save" button.

Tips & Warnings

  • It is pointless to convert the file to an EPS unless you will be exporting the print job to a Postscript printer.
  • Ensure you have proper copyright clearance before converting the PDF to an EPS file.
